This Chromebook is the option because it is small enough to fit in a backpack and is very durable. With that said, it is not complete indestructible and should be handled with proper care (don't toss around or sit on your backpack while the device is inside).

This Chromebook is a bigger screen and a bit faster, but slightly less efficient. It is suitable for older students that need extra screen size. It is not as durable and has slightly less battery life. Because it is bigger, it is slightly heavier and takes up more space in a backpack.
